Conwy Training instructors helping to save lives in North Wales
Chris and Pilar have recently organised their 11th Penmaenmawr Fell Race. This is the oldest fell race in Wales and brings in runners from outside the area. Over the years this has raised a huge amount of money for local charities (Hope House, Wales Air Ambulance). This year we have decided to try to “donate a defib” every year. This will help the race to have a positive local impact. For each defibrillator donated, we would look to offer some training for local residents.
The first of these Defibrillators should soon be sited outside Nant Bwlch Yr Haearn Outdoor Education Centre , above LLanrwst in the Gwydir forest . This will be part funded by us and supported by the charity Welsh Hearts – http://welshhearts.org/
Training will be offered in the new year in order to raise local awareness and ensure that residents feel more confident in dealing with AED use.
It’s hoped that we will also be able to secure a further defibrillator for Capelulo village , the location of the fell race itself.
